What is osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a hands-on, whole-body therapy that focuses on how your skeleton, joints, muscles, nerves, circulation, and connective tissues work together as a unified system. It aims to restore balance and movement through a variety of gentle manual techniques.
These may include soft tissue release, joint mobilisation, stretching, and, where appropriate, precise joint manipulations to help restore natural movement and reduce tension.
At Fire & Earth, we take time to understand the root cause of your discomfort, not just the symptoms. Osteopathy is safe, natural, and suitable for people of all ages and activity levels, from office workers and busy parents to professional athletes.
What can osteopathy help with?
Osteopathy can support recovery from a wide range of conditions. Many people visit osteopaths for help with:
Back and neck pain
Postural issues from work, stress, or pregnancy
Joint stiffness and muscle tension
Sciatica
Minor sports injuries
Headaches related to neck tension
Repetitive strain injuries (RSI)
Arthritic pain and general mobility problems
These are all recognised by the General Osteopathic Council as common reasons people seek osteopathic care.
Whether you're managing long-term discomfort or want to feel looser, stronger, and more mobile, we’re here to help—safely and professionally.
To this list, we also offer support for:
Injuries from sports and exercise
Tennis and golfers elbow
Shoulder stiffness and pain, including ‘frozen’ shoulder
Ankle pain or stiffness
Knee pain and chronic conditions
Elbow and wrist pain
Muscle stiffness
Over-strain injuries associated with pregnancy
Whether you're recovering from an injury or just want to feel looser, stronger and more mobile, we’re here to help.
What to expect at your first appointment.
Your osteopath will begin with a thorough consultation, including your medical history and a physical assessment. We take time to listen and understand what’s really going on, so we can treat the root cause, not just the symptoms.
If there’s time in your appointment, and we feel it’s safe and appropriate, we’ll start hands-on treatment straight away. You’ll leave your session with a clearer understanding of your body, your condition, and a personalised treatment plan.
We’ll also offer helpful advice, simple exercises, and tips to support your recovery between sessions—because what you do outside the clinic matters just as much.

Simple online booking
Honest, tailored advice
Preventative care to keep you well long-term
The main benefits of osteopathy are that it can diagnose, treat, and prevent the following conditions and syndromes:
Sports related injuries
Runner’s knee
Tennis or Golfer’s Elbow
Sciatica and related back pain
Frozen shoulder
Repetitive strains and injuries
Not all of those are sports-related, despite the name.
Golfers and Tennis Elbow can affect non-golfers and tennis players quite frequently, for example. Sitting at an uncomfortable desk and typing can cause Repetitive Strain Injuries just as easily as manual labour or exercise.
