Hello guest
Your basket is empty
We are super proud of Dominic Lenehan for running the Paphos Half Marathon last weekend.

Focus, determination and hard work all the way.

From recovery and rehabilitation...

It’s been a long road for Dom, 71 years old, who in July 2015 donated a kidney to his daughter saving her life. After taking time to recover he focused on getting back to running, something he has done for most of his life, completing multiple races from 10k’s to full marathons and racing for Massey Running Club for years.

John Elliott, our sports massage therapist in Simply Gym Coventry, has been Dom’s therapist for many years and took a keen role in supporting him through the last two years. Building his fitness back up following surgery wasn’t straight forward and Dom suffered with chronic Achilles tendinopathy and soft tissue damage to his calf leading to frustration.

Fire & Earth therapists John and Harry put their heads together and came up with a training plan that would enable Dom to steadily build up his fitness and strengthening his legs to prevent further issues. After massage treatment and exercise therapy Dom was ready to hit the road.

“Dom’s determination and desire to run again has been a huge factor in his recovery, it’s been a real pleasure to help him progress and get back to doing what he loves, running.” - John Elliott

... to a sub 2-hour marathon

So you can imagine what an achievement it was to get to the start line at the Paphos Half Marathon. With temperatures in their mid-20’s it wasn’t going to be an easy run, but Dom completed his first half since 2015 in a magnificent 1 hr 57 minute. Job done!

The next challenge

Dom is now feeling more confident for his next challenge. He’s only gone and got himself a place in the London Marathon next year!

We’re here supporting him, and we know he can do whatever he puts his mind too.

Dom's partner Julie said; “Thanks to John and the team for looking after Dom’s legs enabling him to get running again. It’s a bit daunting to think he will have to run double the distance in just 6 months’ time, but I’m sure with a training plan from Fire & Earth in place he might just do it.”

Go Dom!
